Minecraft Man (Practice)

Today we started using Cinema4D and we were told to make a robot but instead I remade the minecraft model.

I started off with a basic cube for the head and you can see what shape it is on the right hand side of the screen and that is called the object manager.

Then I duplicated the original cube, to do this you hold down CTRL and drag the object under it and it should duplicate it and you should rename it so then you haven't got lots of objects named cube.  So by pressing enter on the object you want to rename and you should be able to highlight it.  I renamed the new cube Torso.

You want be able to see the new cube because it is inside the original cube so to move it you will be able to see a green, red and blue arrow which are the X, Y and Z axis.  So to move the cube use the green arrow which is the Y axis and it should appear.

To make it the right shape you need it to be on the axis there are little yellow squares and this allows you to scale the objects to wot you need it to be.

The next part were the arms and the arms are just by the side they are in a walking motion so one arm is forward and the other is behind.  So to this you need to click the rotation button which is next to the scale button.

Next was to add in the legs and again because it is in a walking motion but its opposite sides to the arms.  The legs were tricky to get right because at first they were to wide and long and they weren't in place so I made the legs a bit thinner and I put the legs into the torso so that there weren't any gaps and to do that I changed the view to the right instead of being in perspective.

Lastly was to get all of the colours into the model and because there are different colours on just one shape for example you have his arm and then his sleeve from his t shirt but because the cube is one shape you have to use the cut tool so that you can have separate colours on the same shape.

For the face and torso there are a lot of separate areas that are different colours and to make sure the right colours are in the right place you need to add segments to the shape so you can do the colour individually.

To add colour you have to add a new material art the material bar at the bottom of the page.  You then need to go file > new material and new sphere will appear double click the sphere and a bar will pop up with red, green and blue and use the sliders until you get the colour you want and it will appear in a box if you want edit that colour then double click it and you will get another pop up with a colour circle and you can then get the exact colour you want.

I will compare my minecraft guy to the original one that was made for the game.

And this is the one that I created on Cinema 4D
